A new ZEIT study guide has revealed that students who are pursuing higher education at German universities are highly satisfied with the system in the country.
The guide, which is based on a ranking made by the CHE Center for University Development, includes opinions on study, teaching and research, as well as opinions from 120,000 students who are enrolled in one of the German universities.
Based on the responses from the students, data show that there is a nationwide high level of satisfaction with the general study situation, Studying-in-Germany reports.
Over half of the departments that have been evaluated in the study have received high scores from students, although there were some that fell behind.
Commenting on the positive feedback from the students, the managing director of the CHE, Frank Ziegele, said that the results prove that students start their studies in Germany with no fear.
鈥淭he current results show that prospective students in Germany can start their studies with a good feeling. Especially after Corona, the universities have expanded their advisory and support offerings,鈥 the statement of Ziegele reads.

Ziegele further stressed that four out of five departments at German universities offer preliminary bridging programmes to close the knowledge gaps and make sure that students are ready to start their studies.
When doing this ranking, students were asked to share their opinions on the overall studying process. Moreover, they were also asked to share if they have enough possibilities for research and development, among others.
Students Showing Increased Interest in Science Study Fields
Computer science, medicine, political science, and sociology have been ranked as the top new courses of study in which students are most interested. The guide further includes checklists that aim to help students in choosing their area of study.
In addition to having an exceptional education system, another thing that makes Germany stand out is the number of scholarships that the country offers.
In 2023, more than 31,400 students received scholarships in Germany. Data from the Federal Statistics Office of Germany, Destatis, shows that students with a scholarship represent 1.1 per cent of the total student population in the country.
The same noted that of all beneficiaries of scholarships, around 5,000 students were internationals.
As for the fields of study, it has been revealed that engineering students received the highest number of scholarships last year, with 10,943 recipients.
Moreover, those in law, economics, and social sciences also received a high number of scholarships in 2023.
